WiN UK’s 7th Annual Conference hailed a big and bold success

Over 300 attendees spent the day exploring opportunities for improving diversity in the UK’s growing nuclear sector, specifically looking at how we can lead the change we want to see for our workplace, those around us, and ourselves.

In advance of the conference, a speed mentoring session offered advice to women who were both new to the sector or developing their career. Following this, around 200 people enjoyed the pre-event evening reception, sponsored by Atkins, at Manchester’s Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.

The energetic “buzz” at my first conference as WiN UK President instilled me with great confidence that there is huge determination to improve gender balance in the UK’s nuclear organisations.

It was fantastic for so many of us to hear about the drive to grow the “Great British Nuclear” sector, as outlined by Greg Hands, Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, and MPs Trudy Harrison and Virginia Crosbie. Women should be in no doubt that our nuclear industry offers so many opportunities to progress in a variety of professions.

I want to thank all the conference attendees, speakers, workshop hosts, and panellists who shared ideas about ways to improve our changed post-covid workplaces for everyone, but specifically in ways that benefit the women we need to pursue careers in our sector.
