WiN takes centre role in international talks on inclusivity

WiN UK took a central role in a high-profile roundtable discussion on inclusivity in the international nuclear sector.

Our President Ivan Baldwin and Vice President Lucy Austin met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, and his team to share best practices and discuss key challenges.

Ivan said: “DG Grossi is making great strides in the IAEA on gender balance, with over 40% of his organisation now being female, which gives WiN UK a real example of how our targets on gender balance are achievable. I’m looking forward to closer working with IAEA on the inclusion agenda.”

Other participants included representatives from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, Nuclear Skills Strategy Group (NSSG), the Young Generation Network (YGN) and the Next Generation Nuclear Industry Council (NGNIC).

Lucy added: “It was great to showcase the collaboration between WiN UK, NSSG, YGN and NGNIC – how we are working together to improve the representation of women in the nuclear sector – and to learn from the IAEA’s success.”

Topics discussed included sharing best practices from a UK perspective, attracting people to the nuclear sector and potentially closer working between UK bodies and the IAEA.
