Two Women in Nuclear UK Exec members had the opportunity to share common challenges and issues at a recent leadership festival held by Babcock.
Sarah Stewart, Director of Finance, and Leanne Cowie, Director of Strategy, were delighted to be invited to the event in London, which allowed them to engage to and participate on a whole host of subjects relevant to all of us in the nuclear industry.
Sarah said: “I’d really like to thank Babcock for inviting us and making us feel so welcome and included. It was also nice to bump into some familiar faces and catch up!
“The sessions I participated in reinforced to me that many of the issues we face are universal across the industry and so taking the bold move to include non-Babcock employees was something that I would love to see other organisations doing too.
“We’ll achieve so much more across our industry if we try to solve common challenges together. For me personally, it was also great to see such a big focus on diversity and inclusion at the event.”
Simon Reid, Babcock’s Managing Director, Strategic Partnerships, said: “Our event this year was held at the Electric Light Station in Shoreditch, a unique and fitting venue for us to generate the energy and renewed commitments of our global senior leadership team.
“We are delighted that Sarah and Leanne from WiN UK could join us, inspire us and contribute to our purposeful conversations on how we lead in Babcock.
“We are committed to increasing the representation of women, and we recognise the powerful work that WiN UK does to help organisations explore how they can address barriers to women joining their teams and progressing their careers”.
