This year saw WiN UK’s annual conference go online thanks to a jointly hosted event with the Nuclear Skills Strategy Group. The successful event attracted more than 650 attendees from both the civil nuclear and defence sectors, as well as non-nuclear, and even from overseas. These attendees made 2,500 bookings onto sessions that ran through the week in March.
Over the week, there were more than 80 speakers, 5 panel sessions and 19 workshops. They showcased career opportunities in the nuclear sector alongside the fascinating progress which is leading to more inclusive and diverse workplaces. Themes included the importance of leadership for a diverse and inclusive workforce, why Net Zero needs diversity, various career pathways and apprenticeships, how to maximise social impact of new nuclear through partnership, and how we’re inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in low carbon nuclear.

Lynsey Valentine, WiN UK’s President, said:
“It’s been fantastic to reach so many people by hosting the Nuclear Skills Festival online. Both the speakers and attendees welcomed the opportunity to discuss so many important topics related to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces.
“I loved seeing so many benefit from the live sessions, but we’ve also had many people choose to watch the recorded events in their own time. I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the Nuclear Skills Festival website to dip in to the inspiring sessions that are still available to watch.
“I’m so grateful for the efforts of all those who did a fantastic job organising and hosting the sessions…and I’d also like to thank our workshop sponsors: Atkins, NDA, and PWC.”
