Nuclear industry leaders from across the UK will gather at a business breakfast hosted by Women in Nuclear UK (WiN UK) to discuss the issue of gender balance.
The prestigious event for CEOs and parliamentarians will be held in the House of Lords in September as part of Nuclear Week in Parliament. The headline sponsor for the invitation only event is Laing O’Rourke and it will be attended by leaders and companies which have shown a commitment to increasing diversity.
The breakfast, kindly sponsored by Baroness Hayman of Ullock, follows a successful dinner last year where many attendees will have signed up to the CEO Action Plan which commits to making nuclear an inclusive industry of choice.
Ivan Baldwin, Win UK President, said: “This will be a lively reflective and forward-thinking event. We will hold a mirror up to ourselves and ask: ‘are we really doing enough between us to change the gender balance?’ We need positive action. If we are serious about pushing for change, these are people that have the power to make a difference.”
Topics set to be discussed will include the recruitment and retention of female talent, how we meet the WiN target of increasing female representation industry from 20% to 40% by 2030, while also welcoming both more female apprentices and senior leaders.
There will be a push at the event to sustain momentum throughout the year. Going forward, WiN UK is set to broaden its programme to effect change by engaging with HR seniors, non-executives, and other relevant stakeholders.
