Student ambassador programme launched to inspire future leaders

Women in Nuclear (WiN) UK is proud to announce the launch of its new student ambassador programme, designed to strengthen engagement between the nuclear sector and the wider student community.

The programme aims to empower students to become advocates, role models, and future leaders within the industry.

Initially piloted by WiN UK’s London and South East region, the programme provides students with opportunities to build leadership capability, develop professional networks, and raise awareness of the diverse career pathways available across the nuclear sector.

Central to the programme is an ambassador focused mentorship scheme, now underway, which pairs students with trained industry mentors.

The scheme is designed to guide students as they develop confidence, communication skills, and leadership potential.

Alina Liedtke, a mechanical engineering student at the University of Cambridge and a member of the scheme, said: “Women in Nuclear NextGen has allowed me to connect with inspiring women, easing my worries about finding a strong female community within an engineering environment. Through the program’s mentorship scheme, I finally found a mentor in the nuclear industry who gave me valuable insights into everything from new nuclear tech to international career opportunities. I’ve been given so many unique opportunities through WiN NextGen that I never would have found on my own.”

WiN UK is pleased to be partnering with STEMazing, whose expertise in delivering transformational skills training will support both ambassadors and mentors in creating meaningful impact, and supporters Orano and Accenture.
