WiN UK team facilitate industry leaders and young professionals identifying way to achieve gender balance and broader inclusivity
Recently, 53 Chief Executives, 29 young professionals and 12 facilitators from the UK’s nuclear sector took part in the Women in Nuclear CEO dinner event, held in partnership with the Nuclear Skills Strategy Group and Young Generation Network, hosted and supported by PWC in London. They all participated in discussions around the challenges facing both gender balance and wider inclusivity and committed to collective action as a sector
This was the first time WiN UK had brought industry leaders and young professionals together to discuss how to make the UK’s nuclear industry an inclusive, industry of choice.
Chairing his first WiN CEO Dinner, Ivan Baldwin was optimistic:
“It was clear that the senior leaders of our industry valued the opportunity to work through the challenge of making nuclear an inclusive industry of choice.
Attracting and retaining the talent has never been more difficult, we are in competition with other growing sectors, the CEOs have seen this and are ready to get behind our plan.”
Danielle Jackson, having recently moved from the nucleargraduate programme to become Concept and Optioneering Manager with Nuclear Waste Services, commented:
“I was delighted to be part of the conversation. As young females in the industry, this was an opportunity to inform the conversation with our experiences and perspectives. It’s clear that leaders have a genuine passion and enthusiasm to rise to the challenge and make commitments to being part of the solution to create a future truly diverse workforce.
“We want these conversations to be brought back and continued within organisations through the extensive networks companies have to champion equality, diversity and inclusion.”
