Applications are now open for those women wanting to take a step-up and secure board-level experience.
Following the successful first year of the non-executive director (NED) ‘matching’ and mentoring scheme the scheme is set to run once more.
Suitably experience women should submit their application before the closing date of October 25.
Sarah Macdonald, from the WiN UK team running the scheme, said: “WiN UK is driving hard to increase the proportion of more women in senior management. Increasing the number of female NEDs will ensure nuclear businesses benefit from more diverse leadership which can lead to better performance.
“We are also looking to recruit more mentors and more businesses, so please get in touch if you’re interested.”
Diane Richardson CEO British Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) and supporter of the scheme said: “We’re all aware the nuclear sector needs more female voices in senior roles and on boards. Taking part in the WiN NED programme means we can help make that happen.”
The WiN-NED initiative supports the organisation’s key target – to increase the proportion of women in senior management to 30% by 2030.
Successful candidates could include existing leaders with proven business experience, leaders seeking to return to work after a career break, or middle managers aspiring to step up to a new level.
They will receive training and mentoring and hold a NED board position for a year. In turn they will be expected to act as a mentor for the scheme the following year.
If you are interested in applying you will need to provide a copy of your CV and most importantly, a covering letter explaining what being a NED would mean to you and why you should be chosen for the programme.
