Applications are now open for women wanting to supercharge their careers with board-level experience.

WiN UK’s Non-Executive Director (NED) board readiness programme is returning for its fourth year in 2027.

The scheme is designed for talented women who aspire to influence strategic decision-making, strengthen their leadership impact and prepare for future board appointments.
Through a combination of board readiness development, executive mentoring, peer networking and access to developmental board opportunities, participants gain the knowledge, confidence and exposure needed to become Board ready.

By taking part in the programme, you will:

• Build confidence operating in board-level environments;
• Enhance your strategic awareness and leadership influence;
• Strengthen your understanding of governance and organisational oversight;
• Expand your professional network across the sector;
• Learn from experienced Non-Executive Directors and senior leaders;
• Increase your readiness for future board opportunities;
• Gain access to potential developmental board placements and practical governance experience.

Rachel Robilliard, a participant on the 2026 cohort has shared how the scheme has helped her personal development.

Rachel said: “The programme has lifted my confidence enormously. I now feel prepared to put myself out there, take risks, and pursue the roles I want. The combination of formal training, networking opportunities, and peer support has been invaluable.

“The training is excellent, covering all the right topics at the right level. Combined with the opportunity to expand my network and learn from inspiring leaders, it has been an incredibly valuable experience.”

Who should apply?
We are looking for women who:
• Work in senior or strategic leadership roles
• Demonstrate strong leadership potential
• Aspire to contribute at board level
• Are motivated by continuous development and learning
• Want to broaden their strategic influence and organisational impact
• Can commit fully to the programme experience.

Applications are welcomed from a broad range of professional backgrounds and disciplines. We particularly encourage applications from women who have experienced career breaks, return-to-work transitions, maternity leave or other non-traditional career journeys.

Programme commitment
The programme runs over approximately six months and requires around 7-12 hours per month, including in-person development events, virtual learning, mentoring and networking opportunities.
