What was your dream profession when you were young?

I am fanatical about the sea – sailing, surfing etc. I am an engineer at heart. I wanted to do something that combined the sea with engineering. My dream job was to join the Navy. As soon as I looked at what submarines were, an amazing piece of technology and then I found out about nuclear, that became the dream.

What are the best things about working in the nuclear sector?

Multiple people to reach out to that are committed to one thing, the success of the industry in the long term.

As an engineer, the technology is fascinating. Whether its decommissioning, building an EPR or building an SMR. And of course our nuclear submarines. All of it is awesome engineering.

Do you have a well-being tip you can share with us?

I don’t believe in a work life balance, it’s one life. I integrate fitness and wellbeing into my daily routine. If I’ve
got two hours off in the middle of the day and the surf is working, I go in the water, I get an enormous sense of calm and it’s great exercise.  It’s all part of an integrated way of being.
