SUMMARY:The UK Nuclear Waste and Geological Solution
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the UK Government has decided that higher activity waste should be disposed of in a deep underground facility where scientists believe it can remain safe for the long term? Numerous countries have come to the same conclusion and work has begun to create safe\, secure and permanent disposal facilities elsewhere in Scotland. \nThis new scientist debate brings together leading thinkers to explore the science behind the geological disposal of nuclear waste and the engineering\, economical and social challenges at play. Hear from Katherine Morris (University of Manchester)\, Vesa Lankaniemi (Major of Eurajoki\, Finland)\, Penny Harvey (The University of Manchester) and Cherry Tweed (Radioative Waste Management). \nRegister for this free zoom event here \n
